Shaman Collections

Since my college days at Mt. Carmel’s in Bangalore, I have been collecting folk art and artifacts from various artists with hardly any money at hand. Being a sort of craftsperson and collector myself, I later moved on and studied art at one of London Institute’s Camberwell College of Art. Later, I worked briefly at the Rice University’s Art gallery displaying and cataloging their art collection. More recently, I worked for eight years at the world’s largest collection of museums… ‘The Smithsonian Institution’ doing product development and licensing, primarily researching their furniture collection, graphics and jewelry.

I collected fine American vintage furniture, art and ceramics for many years. Now back in Bangalore, I spent six months modifying our building: breaking walls, joining rooms to make it suitable for a gallery. Luckily, the high ceiling and tiled roof in some areas gave it character and my collection looks great.

My 4000 sq. ft. gallery although tucked away on a quieter part of Bangalore that needs visibility is certainly a treasure-trove of fine, branded, high quality vintage furniture, art and accessories in a wide variety of styles featuring Empire, Federal, Rococo, Chippendale, Provincial, George III, Victorian, traditional, Contemporary and more.

The furniture brands being Henredon, Drexel Heritage, Ethan Allen, Lexington and many more. The accessories are Wedgewood, Johnson & Brothers, Lenox, Mikasa, Noritake, Reed & Barton and much much more.

I decided to call it ‘Shaman Collections’ because I am a shaman collecting arts and artifacts from various places and putting them together.
